The Old Pioneers Hall, Beryl Road, was again crowded on Wednesday week, when the Colcot Children's Concert Party gave an excellent performance of "The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe."

In the West of England Ladies' Kennel Society Championship Show at Cheltenham on Saturday last, "Beau of Remlap" owned by Mr J Davies, the well known newsagent of Borough Avenue, Colcot Road, Barry, took second place in the Junior Class.

Mr Tom Phillips, JP, a former member of the Barry Council, has been appointed welfare officer of the Midland Region of British Railways at Chester.

In the Welsh Bridge Union Pairs Congress at Llandudno, Mrs Luen and Mrs Hopkins, member of the Barry Bridge Club, gained two firsts, a second and third.

Mr W H Adams, Glamorgan Street, Barry, has been notified that he has been awarded a Priory Vote of Thanks inscribed on vellum for his services with the St John Priory of Wales.

The Mayor of Barry (Ald S Simmonds), as president of the Barry Horticultural and Flower Show Society, received another trophy for the Society at the Council Chamber on Monday Evening.

Labour's prospective Parliamentary candidate for Barry, Mr Peter Stead, has welcomed the decision of the Conservative controlled Vale of Glamorgan Borough Council Housing Committee to co-operate with builders in joint housing ventures.

The British Transport Docks Board annual report published today, shows that Barry Docks are healthily back "in the black" after a sharp drop in income in 1975 that put them in debt.

The annual general meeting of the Barry Swimming Club was marked by presentations to Mr Ray Sutton and his wife Grace for their work for the club over a number of years.

The 22nd Chairman of the Barry Round Table is Mr A J Oliver who was elected at the Table's annual general meeting at the Mount Sorrel Hotel, Barry, on Thursday.

A target of £900 has been set by the organisers of this year's Variety Evening in aid of the Barry and district handicapped.

Barry's MP, Sir Raymond Gower, is pressing South Glamorgan County Council for the early provision of traffic lights at two road junctions in the town.
