BARRY town council will celebrate International Women’s Day next month by hosting an event at a local community centre.
The event will take place at Cemetery Approach Community Centre, the event will feature a coffee morning, which will begin with a welcome from the Mayor of Barry, followed by talks from chief officer Emily Forbes, Nia Tyler, Ayshea Martyn and former future generations commissioner of Wales Sophie Howe.
Also at the event will be a fun informative quiz about women in history, and positive and motivating quotes for everyone to take home.
There will be music from artist Nia Tyler and a raffle to contribute towards the mayor’s chosen Charities: Mind in the Vale and 2Wish.
The schedule for the event is as follows:
- 10am: Arrival;
- 10.15am: Welcome from the Mayor of Barry;
- 10.20am Chief officer Emily Forbes;
- 10.35am: Nia Tyler;
- 10.45am: Performance by Nia Tyler;
- 11.15am: Break for refreshments;
- 11.30am: Ayshea Martyn;
- 11.45am: IWD quiz;
- 12.30pm: Sophie Howe;
- 12.45pm: Raffle.
All people are welcome to attend the free event as it is open to the whole community.
