BARRY'S Remembrance parade and services will be held this weekend.

This Sunday - November 13 - people in Barry – and further afield – will commemorate those who fought in conflicts past and present.

There will be a Remembrance parade in the town, followed by two services - one outside by the cenotaph, and the other indoors. Members of the public are welcome to any, or all, these events

The parade

  • People are asked to meet at King Square, Holton Road, outside the town hall at 10am - the parade will be formed up by the Royal British Legion and parade marshals;
  • The parade will step off from King Square at 10.20am;
  • The route will be down Holton Road towards the Vale of Glamorgan Civic Offices, where there will be a pause at the Merchant Navy memorial, for reflection and wreath laying;
  • The parade will then step off again and continue down Holton Road to Broad Street and the Gladstone roundabout;
  • The parade will walk around the left hand of the roundabout and continue up Gladstone Road to the Cenotaph at Memo Arts Centre, where the parade will be formed up around the cenotaph.

The outdoor service

  • The outdoor service will begin at approximately 10.45am – those who are not participating in the parade are asked to congregate at the cenotaph before 10.45am;
  • After the service a two minutes silence will be observed;
  • Following this there will the wreath laying - this is completed in an order with members of the public asked to wait until after the services lay their wreaths before moving to place theirs.

The indoor service

The indoor service will start between 11.20am and 11.30am following the outdoor service. All are invited to participate.
