A YOUTH Officer from Amelia Trust, Malcolm Jones, is preparing to trek seven hours a day for seven days on the Great Wall of China.

He is aiming to raise over £4,000 so that the facilities at the Amelia Trust can be improved for the disadvantaged young people that attend there.

Currently at the Amelia Trust they have a music room which contains only basic equipment and the studio is not being used to its full potential.

Many young people who attend the project are interested in MCing, singing and other musical mediums.

The dated equipment is currently not meeting the needs of the talented young people.

Music is one of the only ways that these young people can express themselves fully and in a positive way.

It is estimated that it will cost in excess of £4,000 to achieve such a goal.

Malcolm has planned a route that will take him beyond the regular tourist trail and onto sections of the Great Wall of China that have only been seen by a handful of westerners over the last 100 years.

He will be trekking and camping on a remote part of rural China to experience local life in its most unspoilt state.

The trek will be subject to basic camping and living conditions. The physical activity will be strenuous and involve trekking for approximately eight hours per day over rough and often mountainous terrain.

The event will involve extremes of temperature, climate and altitude over seven days.
