FUNDRAISERS at a Barry primary school are celebrating after receiving a £1000 cash donation as part of the their Play Dough Appeal.

Romilly Primary School PTA is one of the latest beneficiaries of Persimmon Homes’ community champions scheme.

The school has been handed £1,000 to improve its play area.

Each month Persimmon Homes donates up to £2,000 to community groups within the operating area of its East Wales regional office in Llantrisant.

Tracy Bennett, of Romilly Primary School PTA, said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous donation from Persimmon Homes.

“As it stands the school has no play equipment for the primary yard – and this serves hundreds of children throughout the day.

“We want to offer the children a stimulating environment to learn and play in, while enjoying the benefits of being outdoors.

“This money will help us on our way.

"Thank you.”

Persimmon Homes is active in South Wales with its developments with South Haven, part of the waterfront regeneration project in Barry.

Sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, Victoria Williams said the company was delighted to be able to help the cause with the money.

She added: “We have donated thousands and thousands of pounds to charities and groups in our area – and we’re not stopping now.”
