WITNESSES who may have inadvertently helped a group of men who were stealing a boat in Barry in September are being sought by South Wales Police.

Police have issued a public appeal to try to help locate the boat, which was stolen from the driveway of a house in Hillary Rise, Barry, at approximately 6.30pm on Tuesday, September 5.

Shortly after being taken, the boat came off its hitching in Vere Street. A number of men – believed to be the occupants of the van – attempted to move the boat to the side of the road, at which point unwitting members of the public helped them to do so.

Officers are appealing to identify the men who were driving the van and those who helped them may have information that can assist officers.

They are urged to contact South Wales Police via 101 quoting reference *348429 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
