THE FOLLOWING cases have been heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court, sitting in Cardiff.

Jonathan Evans, aged 42, of Lee Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to theft for stealing a store radio from The Card Factory in Barry. He was sentenced to 10 weeks imprisonment and ordered to pay compensation of £474.

Francis Hocking, aged 47, of Pontalun Close, Barry, pleaded guilty to theft for dishonestly abstracting electricity without due authority. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £250 compensation, £55 costs and a victim surcharge of £30.

Robert Walker, 31, of Coldbrook Road East, Barry, was found guilty of indecent exposure intended to cause alarm or distress. He was given a custodial sentence of 20 weeks, suspended for three years. He was also placed on a Sex Offenders Programme for three years and ordered to register on the sex offenders list for the next seven years. He was also sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work, and made to pay a victim surcharge of £115 as well as £620 court fees.

Nicola Robson, aged 39, of Narbeth Court, Barry, pleaded guilty to multiple thefts from Matalan, Sainsbury's, Lidl, Next and Tesco at stores across South Wales. She was committed to serve six months in prison and ordered to pay £400 in compensation, as well as a victim surcharge of £115.

Russell Richardson, aged 34, of Glanmor Crescent, Barry, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage without lawful excuse, namely by damaging a door and a CCTV camera. He was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £125 compensation, along with £85 in court costs and a victim surcharge of £20.

Poppy Clarke, aged 24, of no fixed address, pleading guilty to sending a threatening text message with the intent of causing distress or anxiety. She was conditionally discharged for 12 months and ordered to pay court costs of £85. She was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £20.

Gareth Dutton, aged 36, of Vere Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to theft for stealing razors from Morrisons supermarket. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay costs of £40, as well as a victim surcharge of £30.
