A WAR heroine from Barry has celebrated her 100th birthday with Vale MP Alun Cairns.
Marjorie Sutton, of Lidmore Road, Barry, enjoyed a weekend of celebrations organised by daughter Margaret Everson.
Ms Sutton had the crucial role of building navigation systems for the Halifax Bombers at the Handley Page factory during the Second World War.
Like the thousands of other British women who engaged in industrial work during the war, Ms Sutton contributed nobly to the British victory.
Mr Cairns said: βIt was truly fascinating to listen to Marjorie speak of her work during the Second World War.
"The social change which this lady has seen is remarkable. I could have chatted to her all day.β
