THE oldest computer shop in Barry has given its support to the Barry & District News’: ‘Your High Street: Use It Or Lose It’ campaign.

TL Computer Systems (Wales) Ltd, in Holton Road, is marking 21 years of offering sales and service and in the town this year.

The small independent business is one of the of the businesses backing our campaign to encourage Barry’s residents, and visitors, to shop locally.

TL Computer Systems is also a member of Barry Town Council’s ShopLocal group and provides meeting feedback to customers and fellow traders on the improvements that the group would wish to make in order to help the town’s local economy thrive.

Company director and IT technician, Dave Elliott said: “I believe in shopping local.

"With small independent businesses you are going to get a better relationship with that person. With a big business you are never going to get that.

“With us you are given the best advice and service. We don’t lie. We give the customers only what they need.”

The business has adapted to changes in technology, over 21 years, and changes in the retail world with town centre customers flocking to out-of-town retail parks for weekly or monthly shops,.

Mr Elliot said that one of the services in highest demand from his business, which was originally based in Lower Morrel Street, was tackling malicious software, Spyware and viruses. The business is constantly evolving and now has more than 150,000 items on its website.

The ‘Your High Street: Use It Or Lose It’ campaign was launched in September 2016 with the aim of raising awareness of the issues affecting the small independent businesses throughout Barry.

Independent traders have, for many years, voiced their views to both politicians and the general public, so this campaign is one in which we hope all parties will want to come together and assist in practically boosting trade so that all benefit.

‘Your High Street: Use It Or Lose It’ is an ongoing campaign. Politicians, traders, interest groups, and the general public are all invited to express an opinion. Contact the Barry & District News.
