Extracts from the Barry & District News of December 2, 1966:

Last week at the Marina Club, Penarth, Barry Young Conservatives held their Action '67 dance as part of the local and national recruiting campaign.

"What did these youngsters do before the Sports Centre was built?" Was the question which one onlooker asked when gazing around the crowded gymnasium on Friday evening.

The occasion was the annual display and presentation of awards of the many sports and activities carried on at the centre.

Success attended a bring and buy sale held by the Barry Island Darby and Joan Club on Tuesday week at the YPA Hall, Barry Island.

Articles presented and also made by members and their friends and from many sources in the area, supported by a grand raffle, enabled substantial funds to be raised for the benefit of many efforts arranged for the enjoyment of club members.

Barry's sudden return to good form was confirmed in their home game with Bedwas on Saturday - they notched up their third win in succession against strong opposition.

Tunbridge Wells Rangers must have been more than satisfied with the point they snatched at Jenner Park on Saturday, for their defence was under pressure for about 75 per cent of the game. Bad luck and inability to profit on their midfield superiority prevented Barry Town from gaining their first home win of the season.

It is a measure of the progress of the Distillers team that after being well beaten by Guest Keens earlier in the season they romped home to a comfortable victory in this game.

A pleasant social gathering took place on Thursday week at the Parish Hall when the club organised a "Film Conversazione." The guests for the evening were representatives from other organisations in Rhoose.

In their game with Bluebird Athletic, St Andrew's started off at a disadvantage by fielding only 10 men.

Bluebirds soon stamped their authority on the game and pressed home the advantage to turn around 5-0 up at half-time.
