BARRY Tourist Railway will be operating its vintage trains from Barry Island over the bank holiday weekend.

John Buxton, managing director of the railway, announced that trains will run on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The fun fair will be operating as well so there will be at least two good reasons to visit Barry Island over the weekend.

Huge improvements have been made to the visitor facilities at Barry Island over recent years by the local authorities, Henry Danter, Marco and the Barry Tourist Railway, to name but a few. More special events are also now taking place on the Island.

Talking about the weekend Mr Buxton said: "Barry Tourist Railway will be operating a 35 minute ‘out-and-back’ journey from Barry Island Station at 11.35, 13.10, 14.10 and 15.10 hours each day over the weekend, including a guided tour around the railway depot where our vintage trains are maintained and refurbished. So come along, enjoy the ride and take a look behind the scenes of a working heritage railway.”
