LOCAL radio station Bro Radio is set to extend its reach having found the money needed for a relocation of its mast.

Broadcasting since 2009, the Bro Radio 98.1FM team have recently been working to secure funding in order to broadcast further afield into the Vale of Glamorgan.

This funding, which includes grants from Barry Town Council, Llandough Community Council, crowdsourcing through listeners and on-air advertisers, has now been found and changes are coming to the Barry based station.

Station manager Gareth Sweeney said: “It goes without saying that this is fantastic news for the station, our audience and many volunteers. We have been listening to our current audience and consulted with the wider areas that we don’t yet cover and found that there is a need for our service.

“By expanding on our already very successful station, we will be able to now offer more professional training, which is conducted by experienced personnel, expand on volunteer opportunities, offer affordable advertising to local businesses and charities, enable more people to tune in on their FM radios and continue to bring locally relevant news and information to a wider audience.”

Bro Radio broadcasts from its studios at the YMCA Barry. It also works in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Updates on the station can be found on the Bro Radio Facebook page.
