THE shocking moment a Barry man entered a garden to fire a catapult at two dogs was captured on CCTV and shown in Cardiff Magistrates Court this week.
Stephen Charles Hammond, 60, of Picketson Lan, Barry pleaded guilty to one animal welfare offence in the court on Tuesday, April 7.
The court heard that Hammond, entered the garden last September and fired a catapult at a tan and white Jack Russell terrier, called Coco, and a tri coloured Jack Russell terrier, called Alfie.
Hammond was fined £500 and ordered to pay £300 costs and a £50 surcharge.
RSPCA inspector Simon Evans said: “Luckily there were no injures to the dogs, but there was certainly intent here to injure even though there weren’t physically harmed.
“The footage is shocking to see someone just fire at these dogs with a catapult, who from the footage look understandably frightened.”
