AIR Cadet, Rachael Carbis (19) of 372 (Barry) Squadron, has recently been promoted to the top rank of cadet warrant officer after six years of loyal service, hard work and dedication.

Rachael has worked hard and risen through the ranks to the highest rank of cadet warrant officer. Rachael’s long and distinguished career with the Air Training Corps (ATC); has included flying in military aircraft, gliding, sport, shooting, hill walking, camping, attending summer camps at RAF stations in the United Kingdom as well as fundraising for the Royal Air Forces Association and other military charities.

Flight Lieutenant Jason Horton, commanding officer 372 Squadron said “Rachael’s promotion to the highest rank is richly deserved and very few Cadets will ever achieve this rank; Rachael thoroughly deserves this promotion for her years of dedication, service and commitment to the ATC and 372 Squadron”.

Rachael received her promotion from Squadron leader Hefyn Jones from MOD St Athan.

After her promotion Rachael said “I was really proud to be promoted; achieving the rank of CWO was an ambition of mine which I have now achieved. I am looking forward to the new responsibilities which now come with my new rank”.

Rachael will now be responsible for over 35 Air Cadets and also assisting with the Squadron training programme. Rachael will be helping to organise many of the exciting activities on offer to the air cadets which includes flying, gliding, shooting, visits, sport, projects, band and adventurous training.
