HIGHLIGHTING the problem of fly-tipping and littering in High Street, Barry, the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Enforcement and Compliance Team have been cleaning up this Christmas.

In partnership with the Town Centre Manager, Councillor Rob Curtis, Senior Enforcement Officer Denny White and officers from the cleansing team were out distributing leaflets to residents and businesses along High Street encouraging people to report any fly-tipping or littering activity.

Cllr Curtis, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “Fly-tipping can be a real eyesore, and a nuisance to local residents.

"By encouraging people to speak up and report any fly-tipping activity they see, we can work together to clamp down on it and help keep the Vale’s streets clean and safe.”

The cleansing team carried out a clean-up operation on Thursday, December 18, behind High Street, returning on Friday morning for a follow-up litter pick.

To report fly-tipping residents can call the council’s contact centre on 01446 700111, email visible@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or go online at www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.
