AGE Cymru has revealed that 114,000 of over 65s in Wales (19 per cent) are not looking forward to Christmas.
A third (33 per cent) say the reason is because of memories of loved ones who have passed away.
Age Cymru’s annual Spread the Warmth campaign supports isolated and vulnerable older people across Wales through the cold winter months.
This winter, the charity has given 48 Winter Celebration Grants to older people’s groups around Wales so they can meet their friends, with the groups getting the grants organising theatre visits, shopping trips and celebration dinners.
Members of the public can support the Spread the Warmth campaign by organising a ‘Winter Warmer’ fundraising event.
