BARRY Island cafe staff have added life-saving abilities to their coffee-making skills thanks to a Rotary Club of Barry donation.
The organisation, in conjunction with Welsh Hearts, presented a third defibrillator to Marcos Cafe at the Western end of the popular seaside destination on Thursday, July 17.
The club's immediate past president Peter Battle’s handover was followed by a training seminar on the use of the defibrillator and also CPR.
This device is one of four devices the club is funding; to be kept in public places for use by trained people in an emergency situation.
The first defibrillator was presented to Habanas, High Street, Barry, and the second went to Bryn Hafren Comprehensive school making them the first education establishment to get its own defibrillator.
Plans are now underway to present a fourth one to the Memorial Hall on Thursday, July 31.
The next training session in the use of defibrillators will take place at Habanas at 6pm on Tuesday, August 5.
Training is open to the general public.
The Rotary Club of Barry thanked the general public for the continued support which makes such donations possible.
