HUNDREDS of ladies lit up Cardiff city centre in bright, neon colours at Ty Hafan’s annual Midnight Sleep Walk event last weekend.

More than 400 walkers hit the capital on Friday, May 16, to complete the six-mile route in their pyjamas together with pink, neon accessories to raise vital funds for Ty Hafan, the family hospice for young lives.

The colourful fundraisers enjoyed a rousing performance by Ragsy from The Voice and were entertained by The Rock Choir, led by talented local singer and pianist Katie Thomas, before setting off for the midnight stroll, which started and finished at the Millennium Stadium.

Each walker has been tasked with raising at least £50 in sponsorship and the charity is hoping to raise around £20,000 in total from the event.

Mair Jeffries, from Ty Hafan, said: “Ty Hafan parents are incredible people who not only care for their life-limited children 24 hours a day, but make sure every moment of their young lives shine.

“We are extremely grateful to all the ladies who gave up a night’s sleep as well as our fantastic supporters, Julian Hodge Bank, for funding this fantastic event, and not forgetting our amazing volunteers who make our events possible.”

The charity extends its thanks to 9Bar, Brecon Carreg, Western Power Distribution, Just Perfect Catering, Wessex Garages and Carrie Elspeth Jewellery for their kind contributions.

Ty Hafan, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, has supported almost 600 families since its inception in 1999. The charity takes its support right into the family home and is there to help families through every step of their unimaginable journey. For Ty Hafan to offer this unique service completely free of charge, it has to raise £3.7 million every year.
