A SURPRISE tribute was paid to Jane Hutt AM for 15 years of service to the Vale of Glamorgan.
The packed event, held at Dinas Powys Rugby Club, honoured Jane Hutt who has represented the constituency since the National Assembly’s beginning in 1999.
Jane along with Edwina Hart AM are the only Assembly members to have served as Cabinet Members since the very beginning, serving under three first Ministers.
Over 100 people gathered at the club for an evening of entertainment as former AM Lorraine Barrett interviewed former First Minister Rhodri Morgan about his life and career and played his favourite records.
Rhodri's "Castaway Classics" included Doris Day's Que Sera Sera and Paul Robeson's Joe Hill as well as several jazz tracks.
In the interval, Councillor Chris Elmore - Labour’s parliamentary candidate - paid tribute to Jane Hutt for her hard work in the Welsh Government and her dedication to the people of Vale of Glamorgan.
Jane was then further surprised by flowers and gifts from the Labour Party members who expressed their gratitude to Jane’s husband Michael and their daughters who had helped to keep the presentation a complete secret.
