WORK to renovate Barry Island's iconic "Beside the Seaside... Beside the Sea" sculpture is nearly complete, with the artwork expected to be back in place before the end of May.
The much loved sculpture is usually seen along the causeway to Barry Island, however, its absence has been noted in recent weeks.
Originally created in 1995, by the renowned sculptor and teacher John Clinch, the popular art work is currently being renovated by the internationally recognised artist Sebastien Boyesen as part of the regeneration work on Barry Island.
Boyesen was recommended for the job by Celfwaith, a public art consultancy working with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, and is in the process of renovating and re-colouring the fibreglass structure.
The artist said: “There has been a lot of sanding, filling and grinding to get it to this stage, but finally we can see the light.”
