SIX Vale library users have expanded their technology horizons after successfully completing a summer holiday scheme.
Youngsters, aged from 11 to 15, took part in the TeenQuest Challenge in Vale libraries.
The challenge aim was to promote the wide range of library services offered to young people in the area, and to encourage more teenagers to use the service.
Teenagers had to complete four key tasks - read a book, post a review online, review a DVD and finally complete a quiz using the library service’s online resources.
Participants received a free DVD loan for each completed task and those finishing all four tasks were entered into a raffle to win either an iPad Mini or an iPod Shuffle.
Nathan Keen, who attends St Athan Library, won the iPad Mini and iPod Shuffles were won by Kate Roberts, of Barry, Gwydion McDarren, of Cowbridge, Rebekkah West, of Dinas Powys, Robert Brown, of Penarth, and Gethin Elsom, of Wenvoe.
The TeenQuest was piloted by Barry and Cowbridge libraries and the library service received funding from Cymal to run it again in 2013, this time in all Vale libraries in together with a number of other South Wales library authorities.
