A BUSINESS set up from scratch by a Barry entrepreneur is weaving its way to success

Emily Laker, 27, took the leap into running her own business, utilising her knowledge of social media and even designing her own website to launch Glam Belles, selling clip-in hair extensions from her home.

Now she wants to promote the idea that young female entrepreneurs can follow her lead and go it alone in business.

Seeing a gap in the market for a local hair extension business, Emily decided that, despite having no design experience, she would start her own company.

She said: "I have no background in the business side of things or website design or anything, but I've always wanted to start my own company.

"Lots of people like the idea of running their own business and working from home, but it is quite a scary thing."

Emily found a supplier in China for her clip-in extensions and began marketing the product by her website, via social media and also a how-to Youtube channel.

She said that Glam Belles is starting to take off as a company and is rewarding her hard work.

"It started off slow but it's picking up now," she said. "It's been going for a couple of months and it's becoming quite successful."

She said that she would recommend that anyone considering following her lead should give it a go.

She said: "You don't need a lot of money to start out, just the right attitude. A bit of a passion for going out there and doing your own thing and wanting to break the mould a bit."
