A BARRY woman is set to bungee jump 400feet into a quarry in aid of charity.

Joanne Hole, of Lower Morel Street, will take the plunge in Chepstow on Saturday, August 17.

Joanne, who runs the social health care consultancy services company ‘Care Support Wales Ltd’, is fundraising for The Autism Directory with the sponsored bungee jump.

Joanne, who is on the board of trustees of The Autism Directory, said: “I don’t know how I get roped into these things, throwing myself off a 400ft cliff!.

“ I’m a bit nervous about it.

“I have done one a few before, but this is one of the biggest ones.

"As I’m getting a bit older I'm starting to realise it’s actually quite scary.”

Joanne, 42, added: “I know that it will be fun.

“When they take you up in the crane that’s when I get really anxious.

“It’s the build up to it that is scary.”

She added that it was a “wonderful feeling” when you take the leap of faith.

“You are going against your whole natural instinct,” she said.

"It’s not natural to throw yourself off something!

“You have got to fight a natural urge in your body to be able to do it as your brain is screaming don’t do it because of the risks, but the feeling you get after a few seconds of freefall is fantastic.”

She added: “I’m looking forward to about ten minutes after I have done it.

“It’s exciting but frightening at the same time.

“I’m usually glad when its over.”

She added that she was also hoping to raise as much money for The Autism Directory as she could.

“It’s something I’m quite passionate about,” she said.

“I think the awareness of autism needs to be raised and that’s why I’m doing it.”
