NEW Theatre, Cardiff, has lined-up an incredible programme of shows for 2016 - with February to March being packed with unmissable theatre.

Cardiff hosts the biggest party in town when The Rocky Horror Show returns on Monday, February 8 to Saturday, February 13. Richard O’ Brien’s classic rock ‘n’ roll musical features an all-star cast and timeless songs such as Damn It Janet, Sweet Transvestite and the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp.

Based on Dr Seuss’ much-loved book, The Cat in the Hat is a lively and engaging first theatre experience for young children aged three and up. The half-term treat will be full of towering hats, mischief and fun from Friday, February 19 to Sunday, February 21.

From the acclaimed producers of Horrible Histories comes the world premiere of Gangsta Granny, the tale of a young boy who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with his gran. It is based on the best-selling story by David Walliams, the UK’s best-selling author for children, and comes to the New from Wednesday, February 24 to Sunday, February 28.

Footloose bursts back on to the New Theatre stage from Monday, February 29 to Saturday, March 5. Adapted from the hit film, this fast-paced show is packed full of amazing dancing with classic 80s hits and a cast that includes pop sensation Gareth Gates and the legendary Maureen Nolan.

Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is brought to Cardiff from Tuesday, March 8 to Saturday, March 12, courtesy of the excellent Theatr Clwyd. The story of a fractured family in the Deep South is a classic of Twentieth Century American drama.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace prepare to say goodbye to the stage in The Last Tango on Monday, March 14 to Saturday, March 19. Their final theatre tour will be their most moving one, in what should be a thrilling, new, live performance.

The irresistible feel-good show Hairspray dances its way to Cardiff from Monday, March 21 to Saturday, March 26. An all-star cast tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, who fights for equality and finds love along the way.

The whole family will enjoy Hetty Feather, which comes to the New Theatre direct from an Olivier Award-nominated West End run on Wednesday, March 30 to Sunday, April 3. Based on the book by best-selling author Jacqueline Wilson, this terrific adventure story is filled with beautiful story-telling, original live music, songs and circus skills.
