ON Thursday, October 6 to a packed The Gill Davies Players put on an entertaining evening of Music & Monologue raising £2,000 in aid of the All Saints Church Roof Restoration Appeal.

Led by Gill Davies of Barry Arts Centre, Orbit & Sherman Theatres, with two superb monologues, the varied programme included operatic and cabaret pieces along with musical soloists.

Violinist Simon Carter commenced the evening performing Romance, followed by baritone Andrew Matthews, mezzo-Soprano Louise Metcalf, Orbit Theatre's Linda Coombes and David Hughes and Lucy Llewellyn and Mark Thompson from Forte’ cabaret group all accompanied by James Bull.

The event was a resounding success and raising £2,000 for the appeal.

James Bull also performed Sortie in Eb by the composer Lefébure—Wély with a guest appearance by the Father of the Bride Father Kevin Lake.

A spokeswoman for the church said: "Many thanks to all those who supported the event and donated raffle prizes making it such a success and of course The Gill Davies Players."

The next fundraising event is a Christmas quiz night on Friday, November 25 at All Saints Barry Church Hall at 7.30 pm.

Tickets are £5 each for teams of four only, including light refreshments.
