VALE MP Alun Cairns aimed to prove he was in tune with music loving constituents when he joined a choir at its recent rehearsals.
The marathon-running politician rested his feet and exercised his vocal chords when he teamed up with members of the Tenovus choir recently at the Castleland Community Centre, in Barry, and called on more people to get involved.
The choir, which meets weekly, is aimed at individuals who have been affected by cancer is some way, possibly as a carer or a patient.
Alun said he wanted to highlight the excellent role the choir played in helping so many people overcome difficulties relating to cancer.
Mr Cairns said the group brought together people who could share experiences and offer support to each other in a positive and friendly environment.
He said: “I had a lovely evening with the choir and we sang a range of songs that lifted everyone’s spirits. It was a lovely environment and although most joined as individuals of as couples, everyone obviously supported each other.
“The choir performs in concerts that help raise money for charities, including Tenovus. The conductress, Jo Fowler is an inspiration and has taken the group from just a handful of members last December to well over 30 now.”
