RESIDENTS are to have the chance to air their views on the future of the Bryneithin site as part of a public consultation, starting from today (Monday July 22).

The existing care home building is to be demolished - as revealed in a recent Vale of Glamorgan Cabinet report - but the local authority says its priority is to identify a future use for the site that continues to help meet the needs of older people in the Vale.

The Bryneithin cabinet working group has identified what it believes to be the most viable options for the site - either a residential development for older people or a care facility for older people.

It has said selling off the land is considered a ‘last resort’.

The council says welcomes residents' ideas and wishes to gain as many suggestions for the future of the Dinas Powys site as possible.

Two questions are being asked during the consultation:

1. What are your views on the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s plan to ensure the site will continue to help meet the needs of older people living in the Vale?

2. How do you feel the site could be used to meet the needs of older people living in the Vale?

The consultation period will last for eight weeks from 22 July until 13 September.
