VALE MP Alun Cairns recently nominated The Royal India in Dinas Powys to take part in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition, which aims to find the best South Asian restaurant in the UK.

The Tiffin Cup is awarded every year to the best South Asian Restaurant by the Tiffin Club of MPs, formed in 2006.

The aim is not only to applaud the quality of South Asian food in Britain but also to raise much needed money for charity. This year the competition is in aid of World Vision, an international aid and childrens charity.  The Vale MP joined the team from Dinas Powys at the Grand Final of the Tiffin Cup 2013, in the House of Commons last week. The Royal India came first in the Wales regional section and highly commended in the UK finals. The judging was chaired by well-known celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and prize awarded by Nina Wadia who played Zainab Khan in the BBCs Eastenders drama.  The Dinas Powys restaurant was one of only 12 national finalists chosen to attend.

Mr Cairns commented: "I was so pleased that The Royal India succeeded in being chosen as one of only 12 UK finalists. They did a terrific job in representing Dinas Powys and the Vale of Glamorgan at the Grand Final, amongst some really stiff competition".
