Barry's VOG Brewery now has its own fully equipped taproom

Think about it. If you like your award-winning craft ales at their freshest and peak quality, there can’t be anywhere better to get this than directly from the brewery where they are brewed. It’s just a shame there is nothing like that in the Vale....

Vale of Glamorgan brewery has a taproom!

One of the best craft ale breweries - certainly in the Vale, at least in the UK, (not wanting to nick a famous beer ad slogan) probably in the world… - has its very own bar where you can sit and enjoy a pint.

Having been in development for months, the VOG’s taproom is finally complete with tables, chairs, ornaments, a fully stocked bar offering eight regularly changing lines, and even a big screen that WILL be showing the rest of the Six Nations rugby.

We haven’t followed VOG through their entire 158-year journey, however we did record the time they moved their brewery operation to state-of-the-art premises in Atlantic Trading Estate.

And we’re happy to report VOG is still very much alive and obviously thriving with the development of its taproom.

In fact, VOG is doing so well it is quenching the thirst of hard-working souls across South Wales, south England and the Midlands.

They deliver to Birmingham, Dorset, Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol, with their main hub being between Newport and Bridgend.

Brewery manager Martin Emery says the company still wants to expand, only a little closer to home…

Mr Emery explains: “What we are trying to do is, a lot of people in Barry and the area do not even know they have local a brewery.

“Barry is a place you want to come and see. If you’re on holiday in Barry and you see a beer made in Barry, you would drink it wouldn’t you!”

Despite all their ambition to grow and supply the universe with quality craft ales, VOG’s main focus is firstly on its people in the Vale.

Mr Emery added: “What we really want is the local punter to know there is a brewery in Barry and they can have local stuff.”

VOG are working hard to bring quality local ale to quality people and part of this mission sees them holding their beer festival at Easter.

From Good Friday to Easter Sunday the taproom will be open and there will be added food and entertainment, and it’s all for a good cause- raising money for C.A.V.R.A (Civil Aid Voluntary Rescue Association).
