A FOOD business which was opened six years has shut its doors.

Sausage Revolution in Barry’s Atlantic Trading Estate revealed the sad announcement on Facebook on November 6.

In the post, Sausage Revolution said the business was yet another casualty of the “economic crisis”.

The post read: “It is with great sadness and regret that tonight we have closed the doors for the final time.

“Despite trying our best we have become another casualty of the current economic crisis.

“We'd like to thank all of our customers over the last six years along, with all the staff that have help us on this journey.”

As well as offering food, Sausage Revolution also offered itself as a community hub for live gigs and events.

This year’s Barry beer festival, put on in association with the town’s round table, held the festival at the business.

When we went and met owner Simon Llewellyn in February, he was revealing exciting plans to expand Sausage Revolution, which included a state-of-the-art entertainment hub.

An à la carte menu as well as Sunday roast came along with the new event space which could hold up to 200 people.

Mr Llewellyn is also known for being a talented businessman, developing a range of award-winning sauces and even pitching to the Dragons on BBC’s Dragons Den.

Sausage Revolution is just one of many established eateries in South Wales struggling due to the economic climate and the cost of living.

In October, owner of popular bakery chain Brød Betina Skovbro told of their struggles, saying she goes as far as not paying herself to keep her business going.

In January, restaurants in Penarth including Indian Mint and Mustard and popular tapas restaurant Bar 44 told of their struggles with spiralling energy bills that had increased from £2,000 to over £10,000 a month.
