IT'S hard enough to predict the weather, but when you have to predict the weather with no map, it gets that bit harder…
However, the all-encompassing professional that is Derek Brockway just about managed to roll through it as the weather displays at BBC Wales failed him.
As soon as Mr Brockway, from Barry, went on air to give the 7pm weather report yesterday, October 23, he was left with an image of an empty BBC office as the only aid to telling us where it would rain next (hint; everywhere…)
Watch the video below as the amazing Derek Brockway manages to predict the weather without a map!
Mr Brockway reacted quickly, endeavouring to give viewers the weather report, but instead of his hands pointing out areas on a map of Wales that usually accompanies him, instead, Mr Brockway improvised with a rolling motion as he had to describe where and when rain, wind and shine would be hitting different parts of the country.
This latest episode (can we call it a watermark?) in Mr Brockway’s career only adds to his legendary status.
In the 2022 Birthday Honours list Mr Brockway, along with another Wales legend in Celebrity MasterChef winner Wynne Evans, was awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to broadcasting and charity.
Wales’ favourite weatherman is also getting rave reviews as he celebrates Wales’ favourite walks in TV series Weatherman Walking on BBC.
And he’s also a sportsman, with Mr Brockway snapped smashing it at the Barry 10k in August.
