IT WAS a busy weekend for Sea View RFC with all three teams in action.

Saturday saw a double header with the Firsts and Seconds in pre-season action against Wick RFC and Cardiff Bus RFC, respectively. On Sunday it was the turn of the Ravens to take on Gorseinon RFC.

The 1st XV lost an entertaining game 14-0 to a quality Wick side, now plying their trade in WRU Division 6. The 2nd XV recorded the first win of the season beating a much improved Bus side 34-19.

Both teams are benefiting from the hard pre-season fitness work and the new coaching structure of Messrs Staniforth, Thomas and Williams.

Post match the teams retired to the new clubhouse, Barry Island Sports and Social Club to watch the Wales v Argentina match.

On Sunday the Ravens took on Gorseinon Ladies, losing a hard fought encounter 53-17, but taking many positives from the game.

The Ravens eight drove the opposition off the ball on several occasions, but superior fitness and experience showed in the end with Gorseinon running in some late tries.

Many thanks as always to our loyal supporters and to the management and committee of Barry Island Sports and Social Club for giving us a new home. Thanks also to Lee for the superb buffet.

This Saturday sees the View journey to the valleys for a final pre-season match at New Tredegar RFC, our opposition in our first ever match three seasons ago. The coach is booked!

ALL CHANGE

A NEW clubhouse and a new coaching structure, the nomadic View have moved again! After a season at Cafe Continental, Sea View have a new clubhouse, still on the Island at Barry Island Sports and Social Club, Redbrink Crescent.

Due to uncertainty of the long term future of the Pleasure Park the Committee took the decision to find a new home, and have taken up the kind offer of the BISSC. Our thanks to all at Cafe Continental and good luck for the future.

NEW COACHES

THE VIEW are proud to announce that they have secured the services of Adam Staniforth as backs coach and Huw Thomas as forwards player/coach.

Former Glamorgan Wanderer, a superb player and welcome addition to the View back row, Huw brings a wealth of experience and will assist current forward coach Willo Williams.

Former Exeter Chiefs and Launceston fly half, Adam Staniforth has represented England Students and English Universities. A classy player forged in the cauldron of west country rugby Adam is a highly experienced coach with a deep knowledge of the game, and has already imbued a style and structure to the View game.

The future is bright - the future is blue, black and white!
