Sea View RFC 2ND XV 0 CANTON 2ND XV 65

LAST Saturday saw another first for Sea View RFC - their 2nd XV's first league fixture.

Late withdrawals, injuries and call ups to the 1st XV meant changes at key positions in the forwards and a youthful, inexperienced back line.

Playing on a superb Canton pitch in the shadow of Cardiff City Stadium, the Islanders gave a good account of themselves, despite the scoreline.

The tackling from the backs against a much larger more experienced Canton XV was superb, Canton singling out Rhys 'Gnasher" Morgan as their choice for man-of-the-match for his try saving tackles.

Given that this was their first match together Canton admitted the scoreline didn't do the View efforts justice. Even at the final whistle the View were camped on Canton's line but were unable to unlock the home defence, James Jenkins and Chris Hann both being held up close to the line.

SEA VIEW RFC 1ST XV 8 CIACS RFC 13

THE 1st XV had a much closer match, just losing a bruising encounter with CIACs, the lead changing hands throughout the match. CIACs regained the lead late on and despite View's best efforts they held on until the final whistle.

This weekend both teams are again in action, the 1sts away at Cathays, and the 2nds at home to Tongwynlais, ko 2.30pm.

Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Barry Comp, and all players, regardless of experience, are welcome.
