A VALE football team has appointed a new manager.

Cogan Coronation announced Greg Tait will take over the reins of the South Wales Alliance League side, after the departure of first team manager David Jones recently.

Jones led Cogan to a respectable fifth place finish last season, bringing young players from the club’s youth setup together with experienced heads, including 36-goal striker Jack Preston.

The team started this season well, and Jones left them just two points off the top of the table.

Tait took over in November, and has won two out of three games since.

He joins after a coaching spell at Cymru South side Llantwit Major, bringing plenty of coaching experience and knowledge with him to take the team forwards.

Cogan have seen off Cardiff Hibernian and Pentyrch Ranger in the South Wales FA Cup since Tait’s arrival, with the only blip so far being a narrow 3-2 defeat away at table-toppers Cwm Welfare.

Cogan’s game on Saturday, December 9, against fellow promotion-chasers Tata Steel United was postponed.

Their next game is against top of the table Cwm Welfare at the Cogan Rec this coming Saturday, December 16, in he league.
