IN the Vale football lower leagues, Cardiff Airport crashed out the cup and Holton Road were involved in a thriller, eventually losing 6-4.

A weakened Cardiff Airport bowed out of the FAW Trophy going down 2-0 against Ardal opponents Pontyclun however, at Station Road, Wenvoe, Ely Rangers beat Alliance Premier front runners Treherbert BGC 3-2 with goals from Richard Greaves (two) and Alex Long.

In the SW Alliance WJO Cup, Holton Road hosted Llangeinor for the second time this season and, for the second time, came away without a win, going down 6-4. 

Shaun Jachontow opened the scoring, followed by a missed Holton Road penalty, but Ben Pearce and Paul Morgan put them 3-1 up.

Llangeinor scored their own penalty just before half time followed by an equaliser early in the second half then another penalty saw Ricky Sansome reinstate Holton’s lead 4-3 which was shortly followed by yet another Llangeinor equaliser.

The visitors went on to score two more to go through to the next round.

In SW Alliance League Premier Division action, at The Murch, Dinas Powys went down 4-1 to Pencoed Athletic BGC - Myles Case on the scoresheet for Dinas.

There was a big stakes game in the Championship at Tonteg Park with Vale United facing Championship leaders - and undefeated - Llantwit Fardre.

United came away with a fantastic five-nil victory. Aaran Jefferies, Griff Watts, Finley Thomas, Lewis James and Kris Smith the scorers

Also in the Championship Sully Sports had a 5-2 victory against Merthyr Saints - Luke Evans, Luke Boyle and Andrew Godwin were Sully’s scorers followed by two late goals by Andrew Smith and a second by Luke Boyle.

In Division 1 West, Cogan went down 3-2 away to Cwm Welfare - Alex Villas and Stewart Owadally Cogan's scorers.
