JUST a few weeks after the Wales Over 65s victory over England, a Wales over 60s squad brimming with Barry Town players defeated their England counterparts at Kirby Muxloe in Leicester on Saturday.
The England side, loaded with experience and confidence, were out-fought and out-thought on the day by a defiant Welsh squad which contained Barry players Kevin Brown, Gavin Price, Barry Marshall, Alun Huish and Mike Bobbett, the latter scoring the all important winning goal.
Wales squad: Barry Marshall (Barry Town), Alun Huish (Barry Town), Gavin Price (Barry Town), Mike Bobbett (Barry Town), Les Davies (Penybont), Brian Broom (Swansea University), Kevin Brown (Barry Town), Cameron Medwin (Swansea University), Stuart Evans (Pontyclun), Roger Langley (Swansea University), Mike Blackaby (Pontyclun), Ian Thompson (Swansea University), John Harris (Swansea University), Jeff White (Penybont), Steve Branch (Swansea University), Rob Clarke (Pontyclun).
The previous week, Wales Over 55s lost out 2-0 to England despite the efforts of Barry Town’s John Jones, Paul Averies, Steve Hill, Ronnie Rahman, Kevin Owens and man of the match Dave Murray.
The Over 50s faired better beating their English counterparts 3-2 with Barry Town’s Mike Fredriksen and Shawn Sullivan getting on the score sheet.
