On Wednesday, 26th May, 2021 we were hosts to Penarth Windsor Bowling Club and an enjoyable evening of bowls was played, with Penarth taking the honours. (Munro Cup).

One of their players was a 12 year old boy, and 'could he play', he was absolutely brilliant, one of our players is still at school and he is playing well.

All the clubs in our area are urgently in need of new bowlers to replace those who have given up the game due to ill health and age.

We have heard that one club in Dinas Powis cannot play due to lack of bowlers and another one in Penarth which is a great shame, hopefully the bowlers in those clubs will consider joining another club.

We had a new member start with us a couple of weeks ago and he plays well and walk-in enquiries have appeared recently and hopefully this will bring in new member(s).

Maintenance has been continued over the winter/spring period and the clubhouse and grounds look fantastic.

We will be undertaking a comprehensive winter aeration, scarifing (dethatching) program (2021-22) with the help of a local company, using our own equipment which we purchased last year.

Barry Central Bowling Club which was formed in 1909, now situated in Gladstone Park (opposite Memo Hall) is a thriving local bowling club, where you can join and enjoy a game of social bowls with competitive club and area competitions comprising, the Monro Cup; Cardiff and Municipal League fixtures plus others..

Keep safe and enjoy exercise (preferably lawn bowling).
