BARRY Amateur Swimming Club is very proud of one of its members.

Iestyn Perkins has been a member of our club since he was eight years old and has been a very reliable member, attending most training sessions and always being available to swim in any galas attended by the club.

Two years ago he attended a level one coach training session and since then has been helping us as a very reliable coach who also had a very good rapport with some of the younger swimmers.

This year the club had all kinds of problems due to Covid and for many months were unable to swim at all.

In the summer members were finally allowed to swim at Barry Leisure Centre though under very tough rules and regulations.

Iestyn has been a very reliable coach attending most of the sessions in Barry and helping the club immensely.

On several occasions he has been the only coach on poolside and has worked extremely hard training many of the club's younger members.

There are not too many young men of Iestyn’s calibre around and we have been extremely grateful for all his help and his hard work for the club.

On Monday he was presented with an engraved tankard in recognition of his invaluable help recently and Iestyn was also given a life membership of the Barry club.

The club wishes him all the best in the future when he joins the RAF and hope that he will return to see his many friends at a any time when he is home in Barry.
