WALES women’s football captain Sophie Ingle, from Barry, is set to make her hundredth international appearance this week – only the third player to reach that landmark.
Her side take on Norway away from home in a European Championship qualifier on Tuesday, September 22 with second placed Wales hoping to qualify for the finals for the first time.
Sophie has been the Wales captain for the past five years since 2015, having first made her international debut in October 2009.

She was a regular in the Chelsea Women’s team which won the Women’s Super League last season, was in the winning line-up for the Community Shield last month, and has been an ambassador for anti-racism charity, The Red Card.
Sophie was awarded the Freedom of Barry in 2018 by Barry Town Council, only the third women to be given that honour.
Councillor Ian Johnson, who nominated Sophie for the Freedom of Barry in 2018 and is programme editor at Barry Town United, said: “Congratulations to Sophie on her 100th cap for Wales.
"She has been at the top of her game for more than a decade, which is a recognition of how hard she has worked.
“Sophie is a role model for young women in Barry and beyond, showing the opportunities available in the women’s game – a sport which has substantially grown in popularity and improved in standards in recent years.
“I hope that she will be able to lead Wales to the European Championships.”
