SATURDAY saw the Barry Community Water Activity Centre host 45 girls and ladies taking part in a Canoe Wales #shepaddles Cymru event.

They had a great afternoon on the water receiving expert tuition in Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboarding, while following Welsh Government Guidelines and social distancing.

Organiser Gayle Penn, development officer for Canoe Wales, said: "It’s a dream come true to have so many women on the water."

For the Community Water Activity Centre it represents the beginning of a return to the water.

Although many youth groups are still unable to get afloat, some of the adult clubs are now able to return to activities.
