WITH a ferocious gale howling up the first, Sunday was not a day for the faint hearted, when Brynhill held its weekly Pro Comp (Stapleford) Competition.
Despite the horrific weather the Magnificent Beast was in fantastic condition with fairways rolling, greens responsive and even the usually brutal rough thinned out.
The received wisdom is only good players can score well in such a squall but Sunday’s prize winners roundly disproved that theory with honking hacker Andy Anstee carding a 39, three better than Phil Townsend, with Lucky Galsworthy fluking a third.
With government restrictions easing the Barry club is now open to visitors. For details contact Matt in the pro shop on (01446) 720277.
