WHILE the immediate future of football in Wales remains unclear, officials at Barry Town United Football Club have set the table for its eventual return with a series of headline announcements.

The Jenner Park club confirmed the signing of 6ft 2in striker Nathaniel Jarvis most recently of Chippenham Town.

A former Cardiff City fledgling and FA Trophy finalist with Newport County AFC, Jarvis has represented Antigua and Barbuda at international level and will add welcome firepower to the Barry frontline when their matches resume.

With over 70 goals in the English pyramid and three more on the international stage, hotshot Jarvis was revealed to have agreed to a two-year deal at Jenner Park.

The unveiling of his newest signing followed the news that manager Gavin Chesterfield had himself inked a new, two-year contract, extending his own eventful stay at Jenner Park until 2022.

Originally handed the Barry job in the summer of 2007, the highly-influential Chesterfield has taken charge of no fewer than 450 first team fixtures; spearheading multiple promotions and Welsh League championships, plus appearances in two Welsh Cup semi-finals.

Details of these signatures sandwiched Monday's announcement that Barry will return to red for their change strip next season; reviving use of a colour worn by the Town in multiple milestone matches.

Barry would clinch their first Welsh Cup and League of Wales titles wearing red and later turned out in red for their first European game at Jenner Park, as well as the landmark UEFA Cup victory over Budapest Vasutas in August 1996.

Continuing their kit partnership with Macron, Barry's home ensemble will remain its signature yellow and blue, with Town supporters, community groups and local businesses alike encouraged to visit MacronStoreCardiff.co.uk to add their name to an innovative, River Plate-style home shirt for 2020-21.

Finally, defender Luke Cummings capped a stellar debut season on Saturday night by being named the Barry Town Supporters' Player of the Year.

Cummings was the big winner at the club's Virtual Awards, collecting the Manager's Player of the Year as well, having played every minute of Barry's curtailed JD Cymru Premier campaign.

The Players' Player prize was claimed by Clayton Green, whose central role to Barry's campaign was enhanced by four goals from midfield in 26 appearances.

Meanwhile, Barry's Young Player of the Year was 19-year old Evan Press, who cemented his first team status with 21 starts, including two against Cliftonville in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.

Press would be another multiple winner, claiming the Edgar's Gift Champagne Moment for his match-winning strike at TNS in September, while Barry's Goal of the Season trophy would remain with Jonathan Hood, whose televised rocket saw off Penybont on the opening night.

Elsewhere, forward Kayne McLaggon would retain Town's Golden Boot after 13 goals in his 23 league appearances, while there were additional awards for Sam Roberts, Jack Pascoe and Sam Jacobsen of the club's development squad, whose run to the FAW Youth Cup semi-finals coincided with an ultimately unbeaten championship campaign.
