SULLY Centurions Cricket Club have been in existence since 1955, making this year their 65th anniversary, having played at Burnham Avenue, Sully, for over 50 years.

During this time Centurions have been one of the most successful clubs in Wales, culminating in the never to be forgotten 2004 season when the club won the Premier League, the Welsh Cup and the incredible result of winning the Village Cup, at the home of cricket, Lord’s. That year Centurions came out on top of over 900 clubs who entered that competition.

During the past six seasons, the club has been restructured and now runs two league XIs on Saturdays as well as a midweek 20 over side, playing as Fontygary CC, playing home games in Rhoose, as the Community Council in Sully do not allow 20 over matches to be played at Burnham Avenue.

The club would very much like to run a 3rd XI again and build up our junior sides. In the past two years we have run the All Stars programme for 5 to 8-year-old children. If anyone wishes to join the club, we can guarantee that everyone will get a game.

Ability is less important than enthusiasm and a desire to be involved in local cricket. We welcome players of all ages and abilities, both male and female. If we get enough female members, we will be happy to help set up a ladies’ side within the club.

Non- playing members and supporters are also welcome., as are qualified coaches, to help us with providing good quality coaching to both senior and junior players. The club is also prepared to pay for members to undertake coaching courses.

Why not join us at indoor nets at Colcot Sports Centre, Barry – Monday nights at 8.30pm, or contact the club via email (centurioncricket@hotmail.co.uk ) or by phone:
