ON 19th November the Ladies of Brynhill Golf Club in Barry held their annual dinner with nearly 40 ladies in attendance.

This is always a fun evening and this year was no exception. The evening started with a cheque presentation to Crohns and Colitis UK Charity.

The Ladies' Captain Jo Kirkpatrick introduced Helen de Saulles the Lead Volunteer for the Crohns and Colitis UK Charity for the South Wales region and Rhian Francis also a volunteer for the Charity. Helen gave a short but informative talk explaining that Crohns and Colitis are both incurable diseases and that hopefully with more fundraising and putting more money into research, that one day there could be a cure.

Helen named a few celebrities who suffer from these diseases and who in their own way are helping to highlight the importance of the Charity.

The CCUK's campaign slogan is, 'Not every disability is visible' and these signs are appearing more and more in shops and restaurants and pubs.

Jo presented a £1200 cheque to Helen and Rhian and informed all the ladies present that a £1300 had already been given to CCUK. This amount was raised from a garden party hosted by Jan Tattersall (£300) and from HSBC bank who matched pound for pound up to a £1000. So a magnificent £2500 in total. Jo thanked all the golfing ladies for supporting her Captains charity.

The ladies then enjoyed a lovely meal and Jo gave thanks to the Club Captain Jamie Griffiths for the Prosecco and wine for the tables, the Bar Manager Kerrie and staff and Mark Dommett the caterer and his staff.

Presentations for past competitions followed, all ladies very happy with their prizes and extra golf balls!

A raffle and games were held to raise money for Children in Need. Lots of fun ensued and £150 raised.
