Vale Football League round up

THE rain cleared and the sun shone on the Vale football league, and the goals poured.

Another week and another brand new league leader in the Premier Division as Cadoxton Imps took top spot. Imps produced a fine display against Island Marine, coming away from Maslin Park with a 2-0 win.

Imps knocked St Athan off top spot, with St Athan being edged in a 3-2 thriller by Barry Athletic with Harry Carter getting the winner.

Holton Road came back from two goals down against AFC Rhoose to draw 2-2. The result keeps Holton Road as the only unbeaten side in the division and Rhoose stay second.

Cogan Coronation moved up to fourth as they notched their third win on the bounce with an impressive 4-1 victory at Cowbridge Town.

And finally in the Prem, Tynewydd broke their Premier Division duck by picking up their first win of the season as they came out 4-3 winners against Cardiff Airport.

In Division One, leaders AFC Rhoose B continued to bulldoze through the division as they defeated Holton Road B 4-0.

Cadoxton Barry, continue to stay right on Rhoose’s tail with an impressive 5-1 at Burnham Avenue against Vale Madrid.

Barry Vikings excellent form continued as they trounced St Athan B 9-0 to maintain their push toward top spot.

Rhoose Social continue to climb the table and they picked up another fine result as they saw off Vale United 3-1.

Penarth Town B got a much needed win as they fought back from two goals down to beat Barry Athletic B 4-2.

And finally, Cwm Talwg got their second win of the season just edging SP Billy 1-0.

A great Saturday of football in the Vale, next weekend it’s the return of the SWFA Senior Cup, with five Vale league sides in action. We also see a couple of Prem games and a full Division One fixture list.
