ON 7th September the Barry Beavers Disabled Swimming Club’s gala team travelled to Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre to compete in this year's Regional Gala.
On the day there were close races from all clubs involved and some straight finals. The team did the club proud bringing home three golds, three silvers and five bronzes totalling to 11 medals overall and finishing in third place behind Rhondda Polar Bears and Blaenau Gwent Otters Swimming Club.
For those who won golds, they have an opportunity to represent Wales in the Nationals which will be held at Ebbw Vale again this year as Wales will be the hosts this time round in October.
The medals won were as follows:
Golds: Men's 25m, Boys' 50m, Ladies' 50m
Silvers: Boys' 100m, Girls' 100m, Men's 100m
Bronzes: Girls' 25m, Girls' 50m, Men's 50m, Boys' 100m, Jnr Relay.
The rest of the team swam just as well on the day and there were plenty of close finishes at each event.
