A BUSY weekend kicked off at Brynhill on Saturday with the Captains Invitational, best of the bunch was Lisa Taylor who carded 42 points, a couple better than captain Jamie Griffiths with Wenvoe member Craig Balchin coming third, a big thanks to all who supported it.

Sunday saw prizes for both best gross and best nett (less handicap) contested over the beautiful Brynhill course.

Winner of the Marcus Watt Cup, for best nett score was Paul Clark, with a handicap shrinking 67, one ahead of club champion Scotty Bowman.

Scott is a scratch golfer and his fine 4 under par 68 was good enough to secure the Ken Murphy Cup, in a round that included a brilliant hole in one on the par three 9th.

Last Friday Brynhill Boy Kyron Sullivan won the Glamorgan Amateur Trophy in a very strong field at Wenvoe, a top quality 66 (6 under par) blew the competition away and was four better than second placed Llewelyn Mathews.

Next week we pay tribute to Brynhill legend John Collins, when we battle for his Foundation Cup.

John is hugely missed at the Barry course and his work with juniors will never be forgotten.
