AFTER the drama of last week’s Club Championship weekend it was back to the bog standard comps, at Barry club Brynhill with two Stableford trophies on the line, the Harry Cocks for golfers and the Porth Cup for the Hackerati.

Best of the golfers was young Fred O’Carroll with a handicap reducing 42 points, five better than runner-up Steve Collins.

Meanwhile in the Porth Cup, top chopper was Mark Borges who scored a more than decent 41, with the far from decent Bob Bounds carding a solid 38 to claim second.

It’s the rearranged 2nd day of the Captain's Prize next Sunday and I’d ask all members to pray to the Golf Gods for a bit of decent weather, for our manic midget captain and all competitors.

Irrespective of weather as always at this majestic course, golf will be the real winner.
