ON Saturday Barry Athletic 1st XI travelled to Newport 3rd XI batted 1st with the game reduced to 35 overs.
Barry reached 163 for 2, with Lee Morgan carrying his bat for 45 not out, Nathan Baker 43 not out and Hugh Smith 38.
In reply Newport reached 155 for 6 with Taylor-Wood 52, Sagara 2 for 22 and Shea Ellis 2 for 18, a 18 point win and go to 2nd place with 2 games left and a chance of promotion to Division 2.
This Sunday Barry Athletic make history as they are hosting a women's softball cricket festival when Blackwood, Vale, Upper Rhondda, Newbridge and Penarth travel to the Athletic Ground to take part a 12pm start.
A barbecue will be on all afternoon and the bar will be open. The people of Barry are invited along to enjoy a great afternoon of entertainment and fun.
