SULLY Centurions 1st XI hosted near neighbours Dinas Powys and won comfortably by eight wickets.

Skipper Rhett Jones won the toss and ask the visitors to bat. After opening bowlers Nathan Cuddihy and Lloyd Bruce had frustrated the Dinas Powys batsmen, Jones came on and took two wickets to start the demolition job.

Then, after the visitors had reached 74 for 2, brothers Jake and Ricki Griffett took two wickets each to leave Dinas reeling at 82 for 6.

A partnership of 25 for the 7th wicket between Harris and Marlow was broken when Marlow fell to Ricki Griffett for 3.

The last three wickets fell cheaply, and the innings came to close in the 42nd over with Dinas all out for 133.

Harris (27) and DiMauro (34) top scored for the visitors. Ricki Griffett (4-22) and Jake Griffett (3-11) did the damage for Centurions.

In reply Rhett Jones raced to a half century and opening partner Dan Chaulk hit 35 before both departed within a few balls of each other.

It was left to Gethin Hicks (15) and Calum Thomas (24) to see Sully home in the 24th over, without any further loss of wickets.

This Saturday Centurions 1st XI face table topping Vale CC at Burnham Avenue, while the 2nd XI travel to take on the Vale 2nd XI in the reverse fixture.
